Welcome to our family – Methodist Tamil Church, where we gather under a roof at Navkar Pallazo in Borivali to praise and worship Christ our King! We are apprehensive about things that matter and what matters to us is your hunger for an abundant life in Christ. We welcome you as you are, because we ourselves have experienced God’s all inclusive love. We are a local church that is connected to something large. We fall as local congregation under the Methodist Churches in India which is connected to the world Methodist churches.
Establishment of our Church dates right back to the year 1959 when revival meetings were conducted by members of the Methodist Tamil Church Parel along with Evangelist Charles Sunderaraj. It was on 15th of March, 1959 Sunday at 7.30 pm at Poisar (Mr Ponnuswamy and Mr David Master’s house), with the help of then District Superintendent Rev. J. B. Satyavatha that our first Methodist service was conducted.
Eight years down the lane, we found ourselves worshiping the Lord at Himalayan high school premises. In 1969 it was the joint efforts of Late Rev. J. N. Harris (then pastor of MTC Parel) and Mr Sunder Yesuvadian along with other servants of the Lord, that service began in the 4th floor of the present Mangal Kunj apartment. In the month of Jan 1978 the Methodist Tamil Church, Borivali became a separate Pastorate and Rev. N. Kumaradhas was appointed as the first Pastor of the Church. In 2009 we completed our 50 years of establishment.
Right from 1959 to 2009, the journey was tough but the milestones which we achieved as a family are the fruits. Setting up daughter churches at Kethipada, Andheri, Aarey Milk Colony, Bhayander Mira Road, Maninagar in Gujarat and Ranganathapuram in Tamilnadu, starting a 3 day youth camp (Bombay Tamil Christian Youth Fellowship), worship centre in Ganesh nagar and supporting missions and missionaries and many others join the list of our milestones.
As years went by, our Church began to grow in numbers. And since it was located at the fourth floor of a society, our elders who were old and sick found it difficult to come and worship our Lord; and this led to an unrelenting need for a spacious and convenient place where everyone could gather together in worshiping our Lord wholeheartedly. As a Church we fasted and prayed for many years; and all are efforts in locating a new place went in vain but still we believed and waited upon the Lord for His right time. We received His blessing in the year 2012.
All glory and honor to Him alone !!!
On 20th January 2013, we conducted our first service in the premises of Navkar Pallazo. The place we worship is still under construction and we pray that the work gets completed soon, so as to dedicate it to our Lord.
At Methodist Tamil Church Borivali we’re connected, we believe, we study, we enjoy fellowship, we worship and we reach out! Welcome to our family….Wanna know more about us? Please join us at 10.00 am for our Sunday service at Navkar Pallazo, Near SVP Polytechnic, Link Road, Borivali (W). We would love to meet you…..
